Pricing Survey Deadline Fast Approaching

Pricing Survey Deadline Fast Approaching

FDMC has been a price survey industry staple for nearly a quarter of a century, and the deadline to return this year's survey bids is fast approaching. The last date for the 2022 FDMC price survey is September 26.

You can download a live estimate package online at https://www.woodworkingnetwork.com/pricing-survey or send a hard copy by mail. Simply email will.sampson@woodworkingnetwork.com or call 203-512-5661 and the package will be mailed to you.

But don't delay. The full report will be published in the November FDMC magazine and online at woodworkingnetwork.com.

This year, the FDMC Price Survey goes back to basics with three designs, all featuring Shaker-style kitchens, but with significant differences that will highlight price changes.

For 24 years, the Custom Woodworking Industry Price Survey has been the only tool to help shops understand the price difference for custom woodworking projects. This survey takes real designs made by real shops and creates images of the specifications and actual offerings available to any shop looking to test and evaluate the designs. Bidding information is collected and published online in FDMC Magazine and the Woodworking Network for shop-by-shop comparisons, including product descriptions, build times, shop prices and other relevant information.

This year's survey was sponsored by Lockdowell and the original project was built using the Lockdowell fixing system. Of course, you can bid on projects even if you don't use Lockdwell. We wanted to see the price difference in carpentry methods.

The Lockdowell Kitchen is a luxury kitchen with an overlaid shaker style door design. Highlights of this kitchen include a two-level T-shaped island, wall cabinets with illuminated glass doors, glass doors with internal shelves and a dedicated wood-burning range hood. There is also a walk-through to the pantry disguised as a closet door.

The second kitchen is less elaborate, but with the most common design, the white shake kitchen also has several special touches. It has two opposing wardrobe walls with an island in the middle. Again, this is done in a full overlay style.

The third kitchen of the year is a Shaker-style kitchen in a U-shaped room with overflow cabinets and a wine cellar in the corner. The overlapping front edge design can also be implemented in a ringless construction, without losing the elegant features.
