YouTube personality Alex Snodgrass visited the Woodcraft shop in 2023 to feature a band saw workshop and give a cutting board class.
PARKERSBURG, WV , Dec. 9, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Renowned bandsaw expert Alex Snodgrass will share his passion for bandsaws with Woodcraft shop customers across the United States in 2023. Woodcraft will partner with JET, POWERMATIC and Snodgrass for Today's Bandsaw Workshops operates at the highest level of performance and offers first-class board construction with 3D maple, cherry and walnut tips.
In the shop, Snodgrass will cover bandsaw setup, blade selection, fence selection and adjustment, drilling, spiral cutting, and the latest bandsaw accessories. In the bandsaw lessons, designed for all ages and skill levels, Snodgrass will first teach students how to set up a bandsaw, then develop techniques including how to make straight cuts, cuts at the correct angle, and how to level, sand, glue , and basic cutting boards.

Snodgrass's association with Woodcraft began 20 years ago when he started coming with Carter Products to Woodcraft dealer shows. Over the years, he said he's met people at the Woodcraft store who started asking him to come.
Snodgrass has been working with band sawmills and sawmills for over 30 years. At age 25, he took a job managing a hardware store in Hawaii , where he became interested in tools. In the late 1980s, he moved to Athens, Georgia and began a career selling jigsaws and bandsaw blades. His work with a jigsaw got him started working with wood, and sales of bandsaw blades intrigued him to find out what he could do with a bandsaw.
While demonstrating band saw blades, Snodgrass found people who were genuinely interested in how they could operate their saws during his demonstrations, reflecting his constant search for improvements to make the demonstrations easier. To date he has filed 7 US patents for fences, blades and wall railings as well as the quick release mechanism for POWERMATIC band saws.
“I was the first to do a quick release,” Snodgrass said.
In addition to demonstrations, over the years Snodgrass has begun giving lessons in the art of the bandsaw, such as the cool 3D cutting boards students will be making at the Woodcraft Shop in 2023 and his signature reindeer. He created secondhand DVDs with Carter Products on how to make unusual cutting boards, boxes, and puzzles, and how to use and care for a bandsaw. Snodgrass also shares his extensive video knowledge and skills on his Bandsaw Life YouTube channel and in association with manufacturers such as JET, POWERMATIC, Carter Products and Titebond.
Snodgrass lives in Christiansburg, Virginia with his wife Sandra. He taught classes in his workshop and helped his brother-in-law, Robert Rakes , on the family farm with hay and cattle raising. The cattle are sold at the local livestock market.
