Give The Gift Of An Experience With Woodworking Classes In Brookfield

Brookfield, Wis. (CBS 58) - You're running out of time to find that hard-to-buy gift for that person in your life. When you're shopping for someone who has everything, you're giving them an experience.

A hardware store in Brookfield offers woodworking and epoxy classes year-round. The possibilities at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware are endless - anything from a simple chalkboard with a personalized message to a pen, cutting board, kitchen utensil and bowl.

"One of the most important things we do in our classrooms is try to help people overcome bullying," said Scott Thorman, Brookfield Rockler Branch Manager.

They provide tutors as well as all the materials and tools you need to create your own articles. Whether it's something simple like a salami board or something unique.

"We have private classes where people can come in and ask to make a cabinet door to make new kitchen cabinets," said carpentry instructor Gary Datka.

It can be a fun way to spend time with the people you love, and no prior experience is required.

"Most of the people in my class, beginners like you, have never touched a trick," Datka said as we tried to make a pin. "And you walk away with a very nice pen."

You start over with a blank piece of wood and let your imagination run wild.

A list of current courses can be found here.
