California wildfires interactive map

A series of interactive fire maps will help you stay informed about California wildfires. Don't rely on just one card, as details can change quickly. If you live near the fire, watch local media.

A good interactive map to follow is Inciweb, "A Cross-Agency All-Hazard Incident Information Management System." You can see the full map here. There is a built-in Google Map with InciWeb lights, which you can also see below and here. Depending on your browser, you may need to zoom in on the map below using the + button on the map, or go to the Layers drop-down menu and disable everything except Fire Preparation and InciWeb Fire Information. Inciweb fires are not always the same as those reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Another useful interactive map is provided by Ca.gov.

Below is an interactive fire map courtesy of the University of California Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. You may need to click OK before you can display the map to ensure you are not using it as an evacuation resource. The map below is one of the most detailed fire maps for California.

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services also has red flag alerts and an interactive map of new and active fires. This map is updated every weekday morning, so it's not always the best for panic planning, but it's informative.

Mapping support also provides a map of red flag warning zones and current fires. They note: “ Expand, click on the red area and follow the link for official information. See the 2 links in the top left corner This is satellite data from hotspots so should not be used for migration planning See the full map here

You can find a map of shelters near you here. (This is not an evacuation map.)
