California wildfires continue to spread, prompting evacuations across the state. Here's a look at the latest wildfires in California on September 28. A good interactive map to follow is Inciweb, "A Cross-Agency All-Hazard Incident Information Management System." You can see the full map here. There is a built-in Google Map with InciWeb lights, which you can also see below and here. Depending on your browser, you may need to zoom in on the map below using the + button on the map, or go to the Layers drop-down menu and disable everything except Fire Preparation and InciWeb Fire Information. Inciweb fires are not always the same as those reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Augusta Complex Fire, including South Area, North Augusta Complex Area (including Elkhorn and Hopkins), and West Area
The fire complex was started by lightning on August 17 and is now 878,470 hectares in size, according to InciWeb the fire complex started on September 28 at 09:31 with 37 separate fires. . Many have since been incorporated or merged The fire has grown in size in part because it is now divided into three zones: south, north and west.
Inciweb noted on September 11 that this is already the largest wildfire in California history.

According to the Cal Fire's latest update on August 18, this fire is 33,424 acres and 95% contained (insciweb's latest update on August 28 has the same information). It was caused by human activities.

bell fire
This fire is located in Tuolumne County (Stanislaus National Forest) in the Emigrant Wilderness east of Pinecrest. It started with a lightning strike and as of September 10 is 50 acres, 2 miles east of Crabtree Trail and 1.5 miles southeast of Gianelli Trail.
Blue Jay Fire (and Wolf Fire)
The fire was started by lightning on July 24 and is now 4,673 hectares and 50% contained as of September 28. It is located 4 miles south of White Wolf Campground and one mile west of the Lukens Lake Trailhead. See the latest map here.
IncWeb noted:
The fire is burning primarily on the north/northwest perimeter of Tioga Road. Thick litter and debris, heavy fuel on the forest floor and piles of fluffy dead logs crawling through the fire with a few individual trees burning around the active perimeter and smoke rising. The smoke rose to the height of the trees and spread.

The fire is located northeast of Cogswell Reservoir in Los Angeles County near San Gabriel Canyon. (InciWeb notes that it is near Cogswell Dam and the West Fork Day Use Area.) The fire started on September 6. Last updated by Inciweb on September 28 at 20:05, it was 114,402 hectares and 62% located. The cause is being investigated.

Bull frog fire
The fire was first listed with Cal Fire on Sept. 12 as a Fresno County fire southeast of Bullfrog Lake near Dinky and Nelson lakes. As of Sept. 28, it was 1,185 acres and 50% contained, according to IncWeb. The cause is being investigated. It is located 43 miles northeast of Clovis.
Butte/Texhama/Glenn Lightning Complex Fire (Texhama/Glenn Area)
The Tehama and Glen areas of the fire complex cover 19,609 acres and are 97% contained, according to Cal Fire's latest update from Sept. 19. Some fires that were part of this complex may not be considered part of other complexes listed in this story.

The fire was 500 acres and 0% contained in Fresno County on the afternoon of September 5 northeast of Shaver Lake near Camp Sierra Road and Reddin Road. According to Cal Fire's latest update on Sept. 28 at 7:07 p.m., the fire has now grown to 304,640 acres and is 39% contained. The cause is being investigated. It affects Fresno and Madera counties.

CZU Lightning Complex Fire (including Warnella Fire)
This fire complex includes fires in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. It is 86,509 hectares in size and is 100% restricted until 22 September. Cal Fire provides updates. If anything changes, you can see current evacuation information for San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties with a map here.

Oscillating fire
The fire is located in Monterey County in the Ventana Wilderness area near Dolan Road and Highway 1. The fire currently covers 128,417 hectares and is 71% contained on September 28.

El Dorado fire
The fire is located west of Oak Glen in San Bernardino County at Oak Glen Road and Potato Canyon Road. It is now 22,680 hectares, of which 92% has been cleared as of 8:48 am on September 28 . You can read more about Heavy's history here .
"All evacuation orders have been lifted," Cal Fire noted. Previously eviction settlements remain subject to an eviction notice. When you return home, be aware that firefighters, heavy equipment and other officers will be around. Please drive very carefully. Reduce your speed, obey all traffic laws and expect possible delays."

The fire is located northwest of Howland Flats in Sierra County. The fire's current status is unclear, but it is listed as active on Cal Fire (last updated September 22).

The fire started Sept. 8 in El Dorado County northeast of Pollock Pines near South Fork Road and Trail View. It has 1,667 acres and is 70% occupied as of Sept. 28, according to IncWeb.

The fire started on September 16 and is still listed as active by Cal Fire. This is Siskiyou County. On September 28, its area was 2,188 hectares and was 93%.

The fire started on Sept. 27 and is already 36,236 acres and 0% contained as of Sept. 28 at 7:52 p.m., according to Cal Fire. It started near the North Fork Crystal Springs Road and Crystal Springs Road in Napa County. Multiple evacuation orders are in effect for Napa, Sonoma, Santa Rosa County and the city of Calistoga.

The fire is located southwest of Hughes Lake near Lake Hughes Road and Prospect Road. The cause is being investigated. As of the late August update, this represents 31,089 acres and 95% of Los Angeles County. The fire came under local control.
LNU Malanka Pazhar Complex
The fire is near the Puta Creek Bridge and Beresa-Knoxville Road. As of September 12, this combination of fires is 98% contained to approximately 363,220 acres in five counties, including Napa, Sonoma, Yolo and Solana.
This complex includes Wallbridge Fire (merged with Stewarts), Meyers Fire and Hennessy Fire.
Cal Fire noted, "Crews will continue to work to strengthen the containment line and fire repair crews will be active throughout the area. Smoke from other fires will continue to be visible in the area."

Martindale Fire

On August 21, a fire started in Tulare County on the south side of Palmer Peak, on the north side of Moraine Creek, at the Avalanche Pass trailhead. According to the latest update on September 23, it represents 668 acres and 70% of the area.
North complex fire
According to Cal Fire, this fire started on August 17 near Flaming Ship Camp in the Half Mountain Ranger area of the Plumas National Forest. It is now 306,135 acres, 78% contained as of September 28th 9:39 AM and multiple fires are still ongoing.
