For those wondering what to do in Saratoga Springs this weekend, look no further. The Northeast Carpenters Association returns to Saratoga Springs for its annual presentation.
The event, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. It brings together regional hobbyists and professional carpenters and competitors to showcase their skills and knowledge. The event will feature several vendors including Bad Dog Tools, The Macica Workshop and Lyle Jamison Woodturning LLC.
"Since its inception, it has been and continues to be an opportunity to showcase hundreds of pieces of wood made by our exhibitors and guests to share our woodworking skills with local residents," said Wally Carpenter, program chairman.
The exhibition will feature a comprehensive woodworking symposium, a gallery show and an opportunity to hear from a range of guest speakers and educators, including world-renowned Japanese woodcarvers Kuniaki Kishi, Andrew Hunter and Gareth Hack. who will be teaching the practical specification and design course this weekend.
"I wanted to convey my passion for detail and design and show how important design is and how important it is to plan ahead," said Heck, who has taught several times at Showcase NWA.
One of NWA's main goals is to give kids "an opportunity to experience the joy of working with their hands," Carpenter said in an email. As a result, the storefront also includes a play factory where children can learn to make their own woodblock prints.

The NWA Showcase and Full Bend will be held Saturday and Sunday in downtown Saratoga Springs. The exhibition will be held every day from 10:00 to 17:00, and the symposium from 08:30 to 17:00.
