Unlike Jakarta's usual convention center in Senayan, this year's edition of Art Jakarta will be held at JIEXPO Kemayoran in Central Jakarta. Spanning 10,000 square meters, Art Jakarta 2023 will occupy Halls B3 and C3 of the new venue, which houses 68 domestic and foreign art galleries. Exhibitors include 28 foreign galleries from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and Australia, showcasing some of the latest works from their represented artists.
Synonymous with the Art Jakarta Editions format, this year follows the traditional format with the inclusion of regular programs such as the main GALLERY section; the SPOT platform for bespoke installations such as “The Order of Things” by José Santos, which explores personal building and remodeling; PLAY by UOB Indonesia, an art park for children; TONEEL, which highlights a range of creative nonprofit projects to raise awareness; and AJ TALK, a platform that allows industry professionals to engage in open dialogues with audiences. In addition, the annual contemporary art fair will feature art prizes, performances and artistic debuts for new talent this year in collaboration with Julius Baer, UOB Indonesia and Bibit.
Art Jakarta 2023 will take place from November 17th to 19th, with the first day reserved for VIPs. The general public will have access to the art exhibition with tickets from November 18th to 19th. All tickets are now available online at Art Jakarta's official website. There you will find detailed information about the art fair's programs and exhibitors. Gajah Gallery, B5
Based in Singapore, Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Gajah Gallery has long supported and promoted the representation of Southeast and East Asian artists. In keeping with the gallery's philosophy, this year's presentation aims to not only highlight the dynamic and diverse artistic talents of its region, but also provide a balanced mix of established and emerging artists. Near the main entrance of the hall, visitors can see some of the latest works by local contemporary artists such as Dini Nur Aghniaf, Uji “Hahan” Handoko Eko Saputro, Yunizar, Fika Ria Santika and Ridho. Rizkin's first solo exhibition, Subliminal Remnant, is also currently on view at Gajah Gallery in Singapore.
Artists from other regions also join the ranks, including Fadilah Karim, Wei Ligang, Jane Lee and Jason Lim. Notable exhibits include Wei Ligang's unique calligraphy as well as a selection of striking and deeply moving paintings by the late artist I GAK Murniasih.
