MustSee Booths At Art Jakarta 2023

Unlike Jakarta's usual convention center in Senayan, this year's edition of Art Jakarta will be held at JIEXPO Kemayoran in Central Jakarta. Spanning 10,000 square meters, Art Jakarta 2023 will occupy Halls B3 and C3 of the new venue, which houses 68 domestic and foreign art galleries. Exhibitors include 28 foreign galleries from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and Australia, showcasing some of the latest works from their represented artists.

Synonymous with the Art Jakarta Editions format, this year follows the traditional format with the inclusion of regular programs such as the main GALLERY section; the SPOT platform for bespoke installations such as “The Order of Things” by José Santos, which explores personal building and remodeling; PLAY by UOB Indonesia, an art park for children; TONEEL, which highlights a range of creative nonprofit projects to raise awareness; and AJ TALK, a platform that allows industry professionals to engage in open dialogues with audiences. In addition, the annual contemporary art fair will feature art prizes, performances and artistic debuts for new talent this year in collaboration with Julius Baer, ​​​​UOB Indonesia and Bibit.

Art Jakarta 2023 will take place from November 17th to 19th, with the first day reserved for VIPs. The general public will have access to the art exhibition with tickets from November 18th to 19th. Gajah Gallery, B5

Based in Singapore, Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Gajah Gallery has long supported and promoted the representation of Southeast and East Asian artists. In keeping with the gallery's philosophy, this year's presentation aims to not only highlight the dynamic and diverse artistic talents of its region, but also provide a balanced mix of established and emerging artists. Near the main entrance of the hall, visitors can see some of the latest works by local contemporary artists such as Dini Nur Aghniaf, Uji “Hahan” Handoko Eko Saputro, Yunizar, Fika Ria Santika and Ridho. Rizkin's first solo exhibition, Subliminal Remnant, is also currently on view at Gajah Gallery in Singapore.

Artists from other regions also join the ranks, including Fadilah Karim, Wei Ligang, Jane Lee and Jason Lim. Notable exhibits include Wei Ligang's unique calligraphy as well as a selection of striking and deeply moving paintings by the late artist I GAK Murniasih.

Ota Fine Arts, B3

With offices in Tokyo, Singapore and Shanghai, Ota Fine Arts is considered one of the recognized pioneers of Japanese contemporary art. The gallery has been a patron of Yayoi Kusama for many years and has since expanded its portfolio to include artistic talent from other cultures. For Art Jakarta 2023, the gallery will showcase works by its most prominent artists, including iconic works by Yayoi Kusama, photographic works by Chinese artist Chen Wei, paintings by Maria Farrar and more.

Works featured include new works created this year, such as Nobuaki Takekawa's vibrant yet satirical acrylic paintings, such as : B. “Aerial View by Cable Car (Cat Ashio Copper Mine)” .

At booth C5, Taiwanese art gallery Yiri Arts will be displaying a variety of dynamic artworks. Known for its commitment to supporting emerging and significant artists, Yiri Arts currently represents a variety of Taiwanese and international artists, including sculptor Wu Wei-Ting, award-winning artist Tsai Pou-Ching, movement artist Tomoko Hasuwa and Prague-based visual artist artist. . . All works on display at the booth exemplify the principles of Yiri art while serving as a curated practice to demonstrate the artists' commitment to challenging and solving pressing global issues through a variety of media. The gallery also recently participated in the ART021 art fair in Shanghai, where it showcased interdisciplinary artist Shih Yung-Chu's eclectic vision of antique collecting.

The Jakarta-based gallery returns to Art Jakarta this year with ROH Salon , describing its booth as a showcase of "artists from the Asia-Pacific region and artists in conversation with galleries." Partner galleries include BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY, Silverlens, Nova Contemporary and Seoul-based Whistle.

The ROH Salon series features a total of 23 artists including Eko Nugroho, Min ha Park, Supawich Weesapen, Dusadee Huntrakul and Maruto Ardi. One of the standout highlights are Davy Lingar's new oil paintings with a particular focus on Hope (2023).

SUN XUN in Shanghart, A6

ShanghArt welcomes guests to the magical world of Atlas, a feature-length animated film by Chinese artist Sun Xun. The six-chapter film follows a young man's epic journey through six different countries in search of his original ideas. Each chapter is created using a variety of techniques and styles, from oil paintings and petroglyphs to woodcuts. Some of the artist's latest oil paintings can be seen at an Atlas Stop Space Magic booth.

Arario Gallery, A2

Arario Gallery presents an exhibition of eight outstanding artists from Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia, including Gwon Osang, Uji “Hahan” Handoko Eko Saputro, Geraldine Javier, Lee Jihyun, Lee Jinju, Noh Sangho, Eko Nugroho and Sim Raejung. All famous artists can boast of different styles, but each of them clearly expresses their ideals and messages.

Notable artworks include Gwon Osang's sculptures, Uji Haha's dark cartoon paintings, and Noh Sangho's THE GREAT CHAPBOOK 3 (2023), which looks like a kitschy parody of Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights .
