DAMBIL On Saturday, the Farwell brothers proudly carried their shiny trophies as they took first and second place in their age group in pedal tractors on the second day of the 31st annual La Collectors de Montour antique farm equipment show.

This weekend's event was held at the Montour Delong Fairgrounds near Washingtonville. There were pedal tractors, tractor rides, an equipment parade, farm tractors and fireworks.

"I gave it my all," said 6-year-old Dan Farwell of Orangeville, DC, who finished second in his age group.

Her four-year-old sister, Cathy Farwell, who placed first in her age group, said she trained hard to win.

"I rode my bike this morning to win," he said. "My muscles were as hard as ice."

Another team of Danville brothers also took first and third place in the tractor races, where riders competed for the best barrel time. Jim Steyer, 12, placed first and Henry Steyer, 9, placed third.

"It's about having fun and that's what I do," Henry said.

"I like to go fast and get things," Jim said.

His parents, Mike and Amanda, said they inherited four tractors, but they won't be on display at Friday's event.

Angie Bickhart, secretary of the Montour Antique Farm Equipment Collectors Association, said the show is a great way to bring families together and meet all the collectors.

"Agriculture and ranching are important in these areas," Bickhart said. "It's a way for those who work with the group to have fun with old things."

According to Bickhart, the show isn't as big compared to shows in the Midwest.

"Our house is smaller, more picturesque, but we like it," she said.

As of 12:30 p.m. Saturday, there were 185 tractors on display at the fairgrounds, but Bickhart expected that number to easily reach 200 by the end of the event.

The Minneapolis Moline Modern Equipment Collectors Association (MMMMCA) brought Minneapolis Moline Tractors, the tractors featured at the event. White Motor Company purchased Minneapolis-Moline in 1963.

"We love spending time with our members and bringing them news," said MMMMCA Secretary Karen Wilson. "The goal is to try to get young people interested in this issue."

The event will continue today with breakfast at 6:30 a.m., church service at 8:30 a.m., parade of bands at 11 a.m., auction and gas raffle drawings and a food truck and tractor battle winner at noon. at noon. .
