Hope Hall Has Yearly Woodworking Sale To Help Craft Careers, Jobs For Students

This Saturday, Hope Hall School is hosting its annual woodworking sale, which supports the school's woodworking program. The woodworking center is part of Hope Hall's Career Development and Vocational Studies (CDOS) program.

The annual cabinet making sale is free and open to the public. It will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Hope Hall School gymnasium at 1612 Buffalo Road in Rochester.

This annual event features a wide range of handmade wooden items, such as toys and dollhouse furniture, home and holiday decorations, as well as upholstery and storage, carefully made by staff and volunteers. Unique items perfect for gifts and home decor.

This year's sale features a wide range of toys and games for families to enjoy together and includes new items such as a mini corn hole game and a mini racetrack. Another item added to this year's selection is a handmade four-socket garter belt for families without a fireplace. Proceeds from the sale support the school's carpentry program.

The school's woodworking program is an innovative initiative, launched in 2004, designed to combine critical academic learning with vocational skills in a hands-on approach to learning. Hope Hall students learn differently, the program uses Hope Hall's unique multi-sensory learning approach, which has a proven success rate with a consistent 100% success rate.

“Each year after graduation, some of our students work in local businesses where carpentry and carpentry skills are needed, or where candidates need experience with machinery and hand tools,” Sister Diana explained. .

"For students entering college or other careers, the skills they learn through our carpentry program are invaluable to success."

The program begins as an after-school program in the early grades and evolves into a credit program in grades 10-12. Courses teach problem-solving, communication and team-building skills, as well as talent and experience in commerce. Additionally, students graduate with a portfolio of homemade furniture, including Adirondack chairs and arched door cabinets.

Hope Hall is a private school for students in grades 3-12 who are frustrated with the traditional school environment. Founded in 1994, the school welcomes students to Hope Hall with a variety of medical and neurological conditions.
