You will not confuse iRCustom with any other furniture manufacturer.
Its area is 4000 square meters. The store may be smaller than a few showrooms at IKEA, the world's largest furniture retailer, with three stores within an hour of Lake Zurich, Illinois. But there is no problem.
"We don't want to become IKEA," says co-owner Rob DiVito.
With large, asymmetrical and colorful designs in wood and metal, iRCustom desks stand out from the crowd.
Furnishing, design and operation are the brainchild of Rob and Anthony DiVito, brothers and sole employees of iRCustom. Both believe that their understated approach to furniture making, like combining metal fabrication and woodworking, is what sets them apart and attracts customers.
modern industrial look
Before iRCustom, the DiVito brothers were not locksmiths or carpenters. Rob did the graphic design and Anthony traded stock options. Both want a change.
Office furniture came to my mind about six years ago and iRCustom was born.
"We saw a small gap in the industry to take the modern approach that people need," said Rob, the younger of two brothers.
Rob is the main person responsible for boards and boards. He said the transition from graphic design to 3D rendering was easy. As Rob points out, with their first creation, they learned what works and what doesn't.
He added, "Every time you put something out, you learn something new."
DeVitos describes its products as "modern industrial".
“We like metal and wood. It's not raw metal, but I know a lot of people think of [metal] as industrial,” Rob said. “But we're definitely keeping a cleaner aesthetic with polished stitching, powder coatings, and bolder and brighter colors. . That's where the conversation comes in."
"I think the synthetic component stands out more than strength and durability," added Anthony. "All of our products are made of very thick material, which is unprecedented in the furniture industry."
In general, X is used. 2" to 4" A500 steel tubing. or 6 x 6 plate as well as x. Cold rolled sheets for consoles. Walnut, maple, oak, ash, boxwood etc. were used as wood.
While Rob focuses on the design of the project and Anthony takes care of the work and logistics behind the scenes, both are busy cutting, welding, sanding and polishing furniture.
"Preparing your steak properly is always an important but necessary task," said Rob. "إن القطع المقطوعة للحام عملية كبيرة ، وطاولتنا [اللحام] قلصت الوقت كثيرًا. بعد أن اللحامات مسطحة على الأرض الانتهاء من اللمسات الأخيرة ، نرسل القطع الكبيرة من الإطار الإطار الفولاذي ليتم سفعها بالرمل وطلائها House ".
They usually source raw wood from semi-local suppliers who eventually process it into squares of equal thickness but different widths that are glued together. DiVitos Panels grinds multi-grain wood panels and refines them with oil and wax.
“Finding the perfect workflow and separation of work is key, we think,” Rob said of working with wood and metal.
"We typically do our best to keep the two processes completely separate, but we often switch between them as we set up and finish the part, so there can still be some balance."
Desk and table sizes vary, but DeVitos says the most common table sizes are about 7 feet by 3 feet, and conference tables range from 10 to 16 feet long and 4 to 6 feet high.
"People often say, 'That sounds difficult.'" Rob said, "Well, it is."
IRCustom's website and social media pages showcase a variety of designs and ideas. One of the offices, Gulf, is described as a "modern office" in steel and ash, with shades of orange and light blue inspired by the Persian Gulf. The Aeroound, on the other hand, is a round dining table with solid aluminum, CNC-machined legs and a black Richlite diamond top.
All of his works are made to order. Customers can look to previous designs for ideas, but each piece is unique.
"Everything is literal, bespoke, handcrafted and made to customer specifications," said Anthony.
we need two
Business social media pages have thousands of followers. For example, iRCustom's Pinterest page has over 28,600 followers. They called Pinterest their "secret horse."
"It's the world we live in," Anthony said via social media.
Its products attract clients such as offices, corporate clients, YouTube personalities, podcasts and even metal companies.
Despite the growth, the brothers love the scale of their business, even if they do almost everything to make it happen: design, ordering, logistics and more. For now, a tent for two is enough.
"We hope to be very meticulous and precise," Anthony said. “We deliberately kept [the company] small.
“We don't necessarily want to rely on a second or third party. We don't want to produce them in such large numbers that they sit in boxes in warehouses and nobody knows who made them or where they came from. "
That's not to say they haven't thought about growth. They both considered hiring more workers, and one day they might.
“Every day we debate whether or not to hire someone. You have to find the right person and I'm sure they're there," said Rob.
