Ronnie Wood was well known as a musician long before he joined The Rolling Stones. He played bass with the Jeff Beck Band and later played guitar with the Faces before the Stones added him as rhythm guitarist. Keith Richards had only six words to praise Wood, but other musicians were far more critical. Diana Ross discovered the fact that Wood was hardly ready to become a father in 1976 and forced him to do something.
Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones became a father for the first time in 1976
Wood knew about the Stones from performances on the London music scene. He helped write one of the Stones' hits before joining the band in 1975. In October 1976, Wood became a father.
As he wrote in his autobiography, Ronnie , he and his wife, Chrissy, were expecting around Halloween 1976. She went into labor during a Halloween party and stayed at home until she needed medical attention during the birth.
Wood returned home while his wife was recovering from the birth of their son Jesse. Ross asks to see the nursery when he gets back and discovers the hard truth - Wood is far from ready to be a good father.
Wood was hit with a huge credit card bill when Diana Ross exposed him as not being ready to be a father
He finally became a father, but he discovered the truth about Ross Wood - he wasn't ready to be a father when his son was born.
When he wrote Ronnie , Wood showed Ross what the nursery would look like. It is completely missing a basic requirement:
He looked at the double bed and other common bedroom furniture and said: 'You can't do that. Where's the manager?" I said, "What's a manger?" He asked, "Where's the dressing table?" Where are all the toys and toys lying around the cage? Where's the manager?"
Perhaps the British way of raising children is different from the American one. Perhaps the children's accessories industry in the 1970s was not as widespread as it is in the 21st century. After all, babies need a crib (not a double bed). They need diapers, clothes and small toys. There were no cradles or toys in the house, which shows that Wood is not ready to be a father. The woman was also not ready to become a parent.
Ross corrects Wood's mistake and takes the guitarist to buy.
"[He] took me to a baby store where he told the clerk, 'He's going to need this and he's going to need this. He made me buy everything,'" Wood wrote in her book. “I kept saying, 'Relax, Diana, it's a little baby,' but thousands of dollars later, we came home with a room full of stuff.
The Rolling Stones guitarist is a father of six
Clearly, Wood was not ready to become a father in 1976. Fortunately for him, Diana helped Ross understand the situation. The guitarist, who at first was not ready to become a father, grew into this role.
Wood and his second wife, Jo, have two children together, and the guitarist adopted a son from a previous marriage. In 2016, the guitarist and his third wife Sally had twin daughters.
The guitarist has supported charities that impact children for many years. He has supported the Small Steps project in the past and Wood's painting skills came in handy at a charity art auction for an Irish children's charity, The Independent reports.
Diana Ross has revealed that Ronnie Wood was not ready to become a father in 1976. The guitarist grew up as a father and cared enough for his children to support them through charity events.
