A large number of people will celebrate Eid in Jakarta on Tuesday after the seven-day Idul Fitri holiday ends, a senior Jakarta minister said.
Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture Mihdar Effendi will see 203,000 cars enter the capital on Tuesday.
"We should expect the biggest returns on Tuesday," Jakarta-based kompas.com quoted Mohadir as saying.
The minister asked the tourists to stop traveling on Tuesday. "It is better to extend the vacation, especially those who are not in a hurry to return to work," he said.
Arrivals peaked on Tuesday, the last day of the holiday, when about 17.7 million people departed, according to the Transport Ministry.
