Wurms Woodworking Announces $2M Expansion

NEW WASHINGTON — Worms Woodworking Company (WWC), a longtime pillar of the New Washington community, has announced its latest project to expand its thermoforming operations.

The expansion includes approximately 20,000 square feet of additional space, a significant investment in state-of-the-art casting machinery and equipment, and a total investment of $2.1 million.

Throughout this expansion project, the company remains committed to its workforce and has retained 47 employees.

WWC co-owner Rick Worm said he is eager to expand.

"Our investment in new buildings and equipment has allowed our company to significantly increase its plastic and vinyl siding production capacity," said Vorm.

“I am also very excited about Faro's new 3D measurement technology, which allows us to reverse engineer parts for thermoformed plastic or vinyl cladding, CNC assembly, quality inspection and 3D printing.

"With these investments, we believe the company is in a strong position to continue growing the New Washington community here."

The expansion aims to increase WWC's production of a variety of high-quality wood and plastic components and assemblies.

Washington's new mayor, Ben Lash, praised the expansion project.

"Wurm's Woodworking has been a pillar of the New Washington community for more than seven decades," said Lash. "I congratulate them on their continued success and significant investment in our city."

As part of the expansion initiative, WWC took a strategic approach to improve its manufacturing processes.

A new plastics production building was added, designed to increase operational efficiency by reconfiguring the entire production line and to allow for the future development of other divisions of the company.

To strengthen its competitive advantage, WWC has made significant investments in state-of-the-art equipment.

The company has acquired state-of-the-art thermoforming equipment that has been instrumental in improving the production of seamless vinyl wraps used in the production of golf cart seats.

In addition, the acquisition of fully automated industrial 3D printers will allow the company to diversify and expand its product offering.
