JAKARTA, Indonesia , Dec. 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- PT Mowilex Indonesia (Mowilex), a leading manufacturer of high-quality wood paints and coatings, has received its fifth consecutive CarbonNeutral® certification from Climate Impact Partners. Having become Indonesia's first certified zero-carbon producer in 2019, Mowilex continues to expand its commitment to support Indonesia's goals to use renewable energy for at least 34% of all electricity generation by 2030 and achieve The country's net carbon emissions target by 2060 with zero emissions. . .

To achieve CarbonNeutral® certification, Mowilex engaged SCS Global Services to calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions according to the CarbonNeutral protocol. In addition to reducing emissions through key investments in technology and renewable energy, Mowilex supports offsetting projects that meet proven standards and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In March 2023, Mowilex opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility designed to reduce carbon emissions by up to 7%. Automatic energy metering technologies and Green Plant cooling systems reduce energy consumption by 15%, while skylights and double glazing further reduce electricity consumption for lighting and air conditioning. Mowilex now operates electric trucks, which do not produce the same emissions as previous diesel versions. The plant's zero-wastewater system recycles and treats wastewater, which is then reused to irrigate green areas that occupy 37% of the plant site.

Additionally, new solar panels at Mowilex headquarters are expected to reduce the facility's carbon emissions by up to 30%. In November, Mowilex committed to planting 50,000 mangrove trees across Indonesia . Although the project was not included in the company's recent carbon neutral certification, these trees have resulted in a positive carbon footprint for Mowilex. As well as storing carbon, mangroves will protect beaches, reduce the risk of flooding and create new habitats for wildlife.

Mowilex offsets unavoidable emissions by supporting renewable energy, biodiversity and responsible community development projects. For example, the company is leading the clean energy transition in Indonesia , receiving renewable energy credits from PLN's Lahendong geothermal project. Mowilex supports the National Solar Energy Development Programme, which accelerates the deployment of grid-connected solar energy projects in India . In recent years, the organization has funded turbines for the Burgos wind energy project in the Philippines , helped conserve 65,000 hectares of Bornean orangutan habitat in the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, and helped install small-scale biogas plants. scale in more than 50 provinces of Vietnam . .
