Evan Rachel Wood, Like Most Of Us, Wishes Westworld Got A Proper Ending

The cancellation of Westworld in 2022 is surprising for several reasons. HBO's high-profile drama series usually end on their own terms, and the sci-fi show seems to be waiting for one final season to tie it all up. Instead, we're left with the question of how it happened, something that even gamers still wonder about.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, lead actress Evan Rachel Wood (who plays Dolores and Christina) admitted that she knew from Jack how Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were planning to end things. He revealed that he asked everyone about it after HBO dropped the show, and they chose not to respond. Why privacy? Remember they thought "maybe we can figure it out in a few iterations". Whether that may or may not be the case, he has no problem saying that the lack of closure "still keeps me up at night."

"They didn't tell us where the show was going," Wood continued. "They always told us. "We know how the show ends" when we started it. He and the rest of the main cast wanted to figure out Nolan and Jay's plan, and they were seriously considering not having a proper ending. "Destroyer". “After almost 10 years of developing the plot and the characters,” he said, “and finally not getting paid to see where it's going, I think it was terrifying in a lot of ways for us and the audience. ".

To date, HBO has said nothing about giving Westworld a movie (à la The Venture Bros. ), and there has been no talk of a revival. Nolan and Joy are currently working on Fallout for Amazon, and Wood herself will appear as Aubrey offstage in Little Shop of Horrors. Unless something changes, all four seasons will remain unfinished, which is bad for any show, but especially when it's basically on the finish line.

Westworld is no longer on Max, but is available on services like Tubi, AppleTV and Prime Video.
